What is Straits Times Run in the Park 2013 all about?

It is one of Straits Times Appreciates Readers (STAR) initiatives to award readers. This is also held in conjunction with Straits Times 168th Anniversary.

When and where is the Straits Times Run in the Park 2013?

It will be held on the 25th August 2013, at the Punggol WaterFront.

What are the run categories?

There are three run routes:
- 5km fun run
- 10km competitive run
- 15km competitive run

Where are the start and end points for the runs?

The start point would be at the Sentul Crescent, and the end point at the Punggol Water Way.

What are the ticket prices?

5km Fun Run:
Individual- $46
Group (4 Pax and above) - $42

10/15km Competitive Run:
Individual- $55
Group (4 Pax and above) - $50

Will there be a special price for family registration?

Yes, a family or a group of 4 will be entitled to a discount under group registration.

Where and when can I collect my Race Pack?

We will be giving out the race packs for all participants from August 9 to 11.
Date: 9-11 August 2013 (Friday to Sunday)
Time: 11am- 8pm
Venue: Orchard Central Level 5, 181 Orchard Road 238896

What if I'm unable to collect my Race Pack?

You may appoint a representative to pick your Race Pack on your behalf.

For those who are unable to personally collect their Race Pack, please download the Letter of Authorisation Form here. Your representative must present a complete and signed Letter of Authorisation, a copy of your confirmation slip and a photocopy of your Identity Card (e.g., NRIC) or passport in order to pick up your Race Pack. If you are a minor registrant (anyone below the age of 18), your representative must also submit your valid signed parental guidance form.

Who can collect the race packs on behalf of the group?

For group registration (two persons or more), only the main registrant or any of the team members is required to collect the Race Pack on behalf of the group.

The main registrant/team member who is collecting must produce his/her NRIC and the confirmation slip for the collection.

When is the closing date for registration?

Registration should be done before 15 July 2013. Do note that T-shirt sizes are subjected to availability, on a first come first serve basis. Do register early to avoid any disappointments!

How will I know if my registration entry online has been accepted?

You will receive a confirmation upon a successful registration. An email will be sent to the person who registers on behalf of the group in the case of a group registration.

Do I get a refund if I am unable to participate after registration?

No. Once the Registration Form has been duly processed, there will be no refund of entry fees for any reason.

If I cannot attend the event even though I have registered for it, can my friend take over my place?

No. Registration is not transferable.

Race Day

What is the registration time?

6.30am at the Punggol WaterWay. The baggage counters open at 5.30am.

How do I get to the registration point?

By Foot from Punggol bus interchange or Punggol MRT Station (NE7). Take a 10-15 minute walk from Punggol Central Road to Sentul Crescent Road.

You can also take the LRT from Punggol MRT Station to Damai LRT Station. Walk towards Punggol Road and you will find a path heading to the waterway. Buses to Punggol Bus Interchange: 3, 34, 43, 62, 82, 83, 84, 85, 136

By Car - Accessible via Tampines Expressway (TPE). Exit 9 or 10 at Punggol West Flyover.

Please note that the two car parks located along Sentul Crescent at Nature Cove and Recreation Zone of Punggol WaterWay Park will be closed on the event day.

Participants can choose to park at these next nearest multi-storey carparks that are located near the Start point of the race.

What time do the runs start?

15km Competitive Run Flag-off Timing would be at 6.45 am.

10km Competitive Run Flag-off Timing would be at 7.15 am.

5km Fun Run Flag-off Timing would be at 8 am.

Is there baggage deposit available to keep my valuables?

Baggage deposit will be made available to all participants. Participants are advised to arrive early to deposit their bags to avoid delays.

While maximum care and security will be enforced, the Organiser will not be responsible for any loss or damaged items or delays in retrieving bags. Participants choosing to leave items at the baggage deposit may do so at their own risk.

How can I get to the venue by private vehicles?

By Car - Accessible via Tampines Expressway (TPE). Exit 9 or 10 at Punggol West Flyover.

Will there be shuttle service from various MRT Stations to bring me to the race venue?

No there will be no shuttle services provided. The nearest MRT station in this case would be the Punggol Mrt Station.

Will the event still carry on in the event of inclement weather?

The Organiser reserves the right to delay the commencement of the Race in the event of inclement weather. Should the inclement weather persist after delay, the Organiser reserves the right to cancel the Race in the Organiser’s sole discretion without further obligation and without any refund.

Do kids need to register in order to participate in the 5km Fun Run?

Kids above the age of four would be required to register for the 5km Fun Run.

Are Strollers allowed in the 5km Fun Run?

No strollers are allowed.

Can I bring my pets along?

Pets (dogs, cats or other animals) will not be allowed on the course on race day.
